Terms of Service

PixelPurl is an independent project built and maintained by a single developer (“MikeWhob,” “we,” “us”). By creating an account or using pixel-purl.mikewhob.com (“PixelPurl,” the “app,” or the “service”), you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.

What PixelPurl is

PixelPurl is a tool for designing knitting charts: you paint or import reusable pattern blocks (“Motifs”), compose them across one or more pieces of a garment (“Projects”), and knit from the result using a row-by-row guide. It includes optional public sharing through a Gallery and public profile pages, and export to PNG, PDF, and Excel. The service is provided free of charge; there is no payment or subscription feature.

Your account

• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
• You’re responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that happens under your account.
• You agree to provide accurate information (a real email address, and — if you claim one — a handle that doesn’t impersonate someone else or claim an affiliation you don’t have).

Your content

You own the Motifs, Projects, and other content you create in PixelPurl. We don’t claim any ownership over your designs.

By marking a Motif or Project public, you grant PixelPurl a license to display it — on your public profile, in the Gallery, and in social preview cards when a link to it is shared — and you grant other users of the service a license to view it and to use the Clone feature to copy it into their own private library. That clone becomes an independent copy under the cloning user’s account, not something you continue to control. Content you keep private is never shown to anyone but you.

You’re responsible for the content you upload or create, including any images you import. Don’t upload anything you don’t have the right to use, and don’t upload content that’s illegal, infringing, or violates someone else’s rights.

Yarn and brand names

PixelPurl lets you label palette colors with free-text yarn brand, line, and colorway names for your own reference. These fields are entered by you; PixelPurl doesn’t verify them against any manufacturer catalog, and any brand or product names you enter belong to their respective owners. PixelPurl is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any yarn manufacturer.

Acceptable use

Please don’t:

• Use the service for anything illegal, or to infringe someone else’s intellectual property.
• Attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to PixelPurl’s systems.
• Scrape or bulk-download content from the Gallery or public profiles outside of normal use.
• Harass other users, or use a public handle or profile to impersonate someone else.

We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms, at our discretion.

The service itself

The PixelPurl software, design, and branding belong to us. These terms don’t grant you any rights to our code, trademarks, or branding beyond what’s needed to use the app normally.

No warranty

PixelPurl is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. As an independent, actively-developed project, we don’t guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times. Back up anything irreplaceable by exporting it — that’s exactly what the PNG/PDF/Excel export features are for.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PixelPurl and its developer aren’t liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service — including loss of data. Because the service is free, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to zero dollars.

Termination

You can stop using PixelPurl at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms. You can request deletion of your account and content at any time — see the Privacy Policy for how.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves. If we make a material change, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above. Continuing to use PixelPurl after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Mississippi, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
